Image View Background Colors
You can set separate background (canvas) colors for the primary and classified image layers — both on screen and in exported images.
Overview
The background color is the solid color drawn behind the sample in the image view — the area outside particles and grains, and behind the image where there is no data. AMICS keeps two independent background colors, so (for example) the BSE image can sit on a black background while the classified mineral map sits on white. In earlier versions a single background color applied to both layers.
- Background Primary — background for the Primary (BSE) image and the Secondary BSE image.
- Background Classified — background for the Classified (material) map, and the Segmented and Elemental views.
Accessing the settings
Both controls are on the Process ribbon, Image context tab → Image View panel.
{{FIG: Process ribbon Image View panel showing the Background Primary and Background Classified color buttons | Process ribbon - Image View panel}}
Setting a background color
- Switch to the layer you want to recolor (for example, Primary or Segment in the Image Option panel) so you can see the result.
- On the Image View panel, click the drop-down arrow on Background Primary or Background Classified.
- Pick a color from the palette, or click Other… to choose a custom color.
- The image view updates immediately, and the chosen color is also used when you export that layer as an image.
Settings
Setting | Applies to | Default |
|---|---|---|
Background Primary | Primary (BSE) and Secondary BSE images | White |
Background Classified | Classified, Segmented, and Elemental views | White |
