Mosaic Field Adjustor
10 min
moasic feature amics allows for automated and manual adjustment of the field position collected from sem amics analysis this allows for the correction of the stitched image to mitigate against over and under estimation due to duplicate grain measurement or missing grains usage guide step by step instructions the field adjustor application is accessed via the main menu ribbon button, once a measurement data set has been loaded into amics once the field adjuster is button the field boundary lines will appear on the sample image main visuliation panel there are multiple workflows for adjusting the stitching of the image via an automatic calculated stitch to manual field adjustment auto field adjustment there are two automatic options, a fully automatic field adjustment and a semi autonomous adjustment both options are accessible from the drop down menu, which is now active, by clicking the down arrow button below the "field adj " menu item to perform a fully automatic adjustment select the "do auto field adjustment" option, which will execute the adjustment once completed a pop up window containing the adjustments made will be displayed for reference there is also the option for a semi autonomous field adjustment, which is accessed via the drop down menu as well, called "do field adjust" this application will bring up a stitching menu option to allow users to preferentially stitch only rows or columns, as well as adjust the overlap to be used once the acceptable settings have been set, clicking the "stich" button at the bottom will execute the stitching routine note! only the rows or the columns should be stitch at any one execution of this application the other direction can then be stitched in a follow up exectuion there is a known limitation on this stitching is both rows and columns are selected to be stitched sequentially manual stitching in some cases autonomous and semi autonomous stitching can not be applied, usually on samples that are highly homogenous and lack distinct features for the stitching algorithm to correctly align the fields as with x ray point visualization, zooming in on the image reveals additional options firstly, each field will be populated with a series of numbers with the following pattern "f \[x, y] (n)" with "f" being the field number and will be sequential from the first to the last measured field this will indicate the measurement direction the next two values "x" and "y" in square brackets represent the pixel adjustment for each field, reference to the original field position this means positive x is adjustment right and negative x is adjustment left from origin, while positive y is adjustment up and negative y is adjustment down from origin the cursor keys can then be used to manually adjust fields in all four cardinal directions the arrows and rectangular boxes visible when zoomed in can then be used to select, with the right and bottom arrows selecting all fields in the same row or column to the right or below the selected field, respectively while the vertical and horizontal rectangular will select all fields from the selected column to the right or selected row and below, respectively if unsure which fields are being selected, the image will indicate the fields which will be affected with adjustment, by changing the field boundary outline to a yellow colour from the original red or blue note the selected fields (i e highlighted in yellow) will be treated as a single unit when making adjustments and so all highlighted fields are moved in relation to unselected field, and no adjustments between highlight field will occur below is an example video demonstrating how to complete a manual field adjustment exiting and saving adjustments regardless which method is used for field adjustments to save the new field locations the field adj application must be unchecked and disabled first when disabled the system will automaticaly update the stitching table on storage, but it is still advise to save the file after adjustments are made access requirements a valid license with amics offline or amics online reviewer status comments
