introduction though amics is a powerful tool for the acquisition and processing of automated mineralogy data, it is not designed as full feature reporting application for this many users will use 3rd party software suites, either developed internally or commercially purchased so, therefore, amics has provided a means to export the processed data into various formats for ingestion into these 3rd party reporting software suites all export features for amics can be accessed via the "export" button in the upper toolbar of amics process export the export function allows the user to sample the data from the current data view on process to an appropriate file type for ingestion by a third party reporting or processing software the export function can export full pixel resolution images from the sample images and calculation table tabs with scale bar (in microns), image size (in pixels), and pixel resolution (in microns) xml file for the calculation tables for tab sqlite database (with "raw" extension) for the particle grid and spectrum tree tab image of the standard group list a json or sqlite database containing all raw data including calculated results, x ray spectra data, and image data text or csv file containing all segment information for particle mapping analysis text file containing the total counts collected for every x ray point analysis the export function does not work for the grain panel and mineral standard tab, as there is no appropriate data exportable from these two tabs also, remember the export function will use the material classification selected in the current mineral standard tab to ensure the correct group has been selected before exporting the data note! some 3rd party image viewing software have been known to do auto adjustment of the brightness and contrast of the exported images if the exported image viewed in a 3rd party software does not look the same as that viewed from process, try using another 3rd party viewer a suggestion would be to test imagej which is a free image processor/viewer single item export step by step instructions the use of the export image function is as simple as selecting the appropriate tab and clicking on the "export" button the function will automatically select the correct file type appropriate to the current data being displayed in the process main panel the function will then bring up a new dialog window, requesting user input as to the location to save the output file, and in the case of exporting images, will allow the user to select the image file type between png, bmp, and tiff in the case of exporting the group legend, json, sqlite database, segment, or x ray data, the user should click on the small down arrow located below the export button title this will expand a drop down list of all possible exports, allowing the user to then selected the appropriate export file they are seeking a pop up window will then open to allow the user to select the location to save the file limitations there is a known bug in the export of the json database for large data sets, with the size yet to be determined, the export function will terminate without fully completing the json string format this makes it impossible to read the json string correctly within terminating the string with a 3rd party text editor the data causing the issue seems to be the exporting of the x ray data
