material definations are the key component for first pass interpreation and classification of the collected spectra to a known or inferred material amics uses the material definitions list to calculate the best match for all the spectra and from there all subsquent filter, grouping and calculation are performed amics has two main databases, the user database and the global database, with the user database being unique to a system, install or user site while the global database is provided as part of all amics installs, and is a shared resource for all amics users
