Specimen Types

there are two specimen types available in amics, block and granulated the only difference between these two sample types is that "block" samples will not have the default background material definition, which the "granulated" sample type uses to remove the mounting media for post processing the effect of the lack of background in the block type sample is that in process only the segment and grain layer can be viewed this is because particles are defined as groups of touching grains that are surrounded by background and since block type samples do not have a background defined there can not be any particles assigned as suggested by amics, blocks are for thin sections and whole slabs, while granulated is used for crushed or powdered materials note! there is a particulate function available in amics which will convert samples from block to granulated types, and vice versus you can learn more about it at this https //app archbee com/docs/ulnx6skegc8ehmpkog5xe/qd914crcf9eazwrg3svpc
