Reclassification - Manual Single Sample
13 min
introduction reclassification of measurements is one of the most useful feature, and is unqiue in amics as the orginal x ray spectra for each anlaysis spot is retained allowing for more option in refining a classification method additionally, amics reclassifcaition methods also includes data processing step developed in spectrum tree and touch up panel, which further adds flexibility for users to improve the material classificaiton amics also offers users the ability to reclassify a single measurement throughout setting up a batch process to reclassify multiple measurements from multiple specimens usage guide manual single measurement reclassification reclassify (main button) pressing the main reclassify button will open the main reclassification menu, see figure below this window provides access to all variables which can be applied during the reclassification process the window is broken up into three subsections, which also provides an indication of the workflow to set up reclassification first, classify with a mineral standard list from the left hand options will determine which classificaiton method will be used to reclassify the specimen measurement the first option, "none" will remove any classification method related to this measurement, and will result in the specimen becoming unclassified the purpose of this option is to reset the specimen ready for the development of a new classification method the next option down, 'current standard list", will allow the data set to be classified using the same library this will reset the data set and remove any spectrum tree or touch up step which might have been applied, in addition to allowing for the matching priority to be adjusted (discussed below) the final option is to reclassify the measurement with another classification methos, which can be selected using the drop down menu on the right hand side additional setting for reclassficaition on the right hand side, allows adjustment of the matching accuracy for the different priority standard referenec spectra this is done using the sliders on the right hand side, or direct input into the text input to the far right side as mentioned in the section above, the drop down menu below the slide bars allow for the selection of which classification method to use, if reclassifiying with another method the final two check boxes at the bottom of section one will keep current classification steps will keep any spectrum tree or touch up steps saved with the current measurement result, otherwise is left unchecked any classification steps will be deleted, and if the new classifcaition method has any steps these will be transferred on into the current measurement result keep result material groupings will retain any groupings from the current measurement result, rather than transferring from the common refernce library if this is left unchecked, any material grouping created in the current measurement file will be deleted, and if the new classifcaition method has any groupings, these will be transferred over after reclassification note though it is possible to set the matching proability for high, normal and low to any value from 0 100, it is important the proability set for high ≥ normal ≥ low otherwise the matching classifcaition method may not perform as expected, based on the priority state assigned to each reference spectra 2\ then, use (any of) these extra classificaiton steps in order this second section to the manual reclassifcaition allows for selecting which spectrum tree steps to include when reclassifying the current measurement result the list of steps will be either sourced from either the current measurement or the new classifcaition method file, depending on which option was selected above there is also the option to adjust the order in which each step will be processed by pressing the "up" or "down" buttons to the right of this panel the specific spectrum tree design can also be viewed by selecting the one of the spectrum tree step and clicking the "view in tree" button 3\ then, use (any of) these touchup steps in order the final section of the manual reclassficaition allows for the section of touchup steps to be applied during the reclassificaiton process the touchup steps will be either sourced from the current measurement result or from the new classification method, depending on which option was selected in step 1 the order of the touchup steps can also be modified by selecting a step and pressing the "up" or "down" button and details about the touchup step can be viewed by selecting a step and pressing the "view in grid" button other simultaneous options the final section in the manual reclassificaition window are some auxcillary options the first is to generate a material grouping of species generated as deafult by amics, including the unxrayed and low count species in the case that segments were deleted in the current measurement, the lower left hand check box will switch the option to restore these delected segment during the reclassification process the upper right hand option, classification engine, is currently not fully implemented and should be left as "normal" while the option to "ignore high kev" can be used to instruct amics to ignore certain energy windows, but in general should ne left off for sem data reclassify (submenu reclassify with other standards) this submenu option is partially deprecated by the main manual reclassification option the one option that is of use with this option is to reclassify using a classification method from another measurement file this is accessed via the “open other…” button at the top of the pop up window, which will open a standard windows file dialog box, allowing the user to locate another measurement file once another measurement file is selected, the main window will update with the classification method saved within that measurement file the current measurement can then be reclassified using this classification method from another measurement by clicking the “apply” button reclassify (submenu review classification step) this submenu option is partially deprecated by the main manual reclassification option the one option that is of use with this option is to import spectrum tree classification steps from another measurement this can be done using the “import” button on the right hand side, which will open a standard windows file dialog menu from there, once a measurement file is selected the central window will update with spectrum tree steps from the selected measurement file note this option will only import the steps into the current measurement results file, these steps will not be applied until the measurement is reclassified also, care should be taken to ensure that imported steps are valid for the measurement result and classification method reclassify (submenu review classification step) this submenu option is partially deprecated by the main manual reclassification option the one option that is of use with this option is to import touchup steps from another measurement this can be done using the “import” button on the right hand side, which will open a standard windows file dialog menu from there, once a measurement file is selected the central window will update with touchup steps from the selected measurement file note this option will only import the steps into the current measurement results file, these steps will not be applied until the measurement is reclassified also, care should be taken to ensure that imported steps are valid for the measurement result and classification method access requirements a valid license with amics offline or amics online reviewer status comments
