Calibration Image
5 min
to assist in setting up a measurement (specifically for sem), the calibration image function allows users to acquire a single bse image using the "imaging" settings, and then apply the "image processing" settings to the acquired image the resultant process image is then displayed to allow users to predict the possible measurement outcome step by step instructions once a sample has been created in the sample hole, in the right click context menu for the sample the options to read hw data will become un greyed out the first option, read hw data, will only get the instrument condition, such as brightness, contrast and working distance while the second option, get hw data and image, will also read the instrument conditions, but will also initiate an image capture sequence once a sample has been created in the sample hole, the options to read hw data will become un greyed out the first option, read hw data, will only get the instrument condition, such as brightness, contrast, and working distance while the second option, get hw data and image, will also read the instrument conditions, but will also initiate an image capture sequence amics will then automatically move from the sample image tab to the calibration image tab the calibration image tab will show two images, with the left side image being the bse and the right side image shows the processed image in the image above both the segment and matrix mapping bse image includes cross hairs showing the calculated x ray anlaysis location based on the measurement settings segment mapping calibration image the right hand segment mapping calibration image will show a colored segmentation map, with the segments caluclated based on the measurement setting adjusting the segmentation grey level and segment filter factors will have amics recalculate a new segmentation map on the fly following the recalculation of the segmentation map the data shown in the lower right hand corner will also update this infromaton panel shows a bse historgram for the field, while the data is unique for segmentation mapping, with the peak value being most frequent bse value, segments being the total number of segments for this calibration image, xrays being the total x ray points calculated for this field and the xray time the expected time required to collect all these x rays (i e total x ray multiple my dwell time) a bse background window can also be set using the bg grey level low and high setting, which is reflected in the blue zone in the histogram, and defined areas in the same which will not be included in the segmentation calculations or for x ray acquistion matrix mapping calibration image the right hand matrix mapping calibration image will show a processed bse image, which has been filtered using a threshold filter the threshold filter will use the bg grey level low and high to define a bse window not to be include for x ray collection both images will show crosshairs indicating expected x ray collection location on the same in this case adjustment to the bg grey level will only be reflected in the calibration image after clicking away from this tab and clicking back again this will also update the information panel in the lower right hand corner, which shows the same bse historgram for the field, but only contains information on the peak bse value and its frequency
