the sample image viewer introduction the sample images tab displays the measured mineral identification results in image format the user may change between bse, segment, classified, or elemental images the image tab is more than just a measurement viewer, but a dynamic tool for exploring and sorting data this tab can be used to view image data including bse, secondary channel, and elemental visualization view false color mineral maps sort and filter mineral maps view combination of minerals and bse to highlight the occurrence of important phases view x ray points locations and segmentation images compare the different image layers via split view select display image the user may change between bse, segment, elemental, and classified image views using the image option selection in the main menu the larger primary/classified button will switch between these two image types, while the smaller segment and elemental buttons will switch to these image view types primary backscatter electron image (sem) or pseudobse or total peak energy (m4) classified flase color image based on the classification workflow segment segmentation map showing the segment area created during particle mapping mode elemental color map showing a heat map or color blended based on the net or gross count for each x ray point note! amics assumes all data on a sem is collected with the bse as the primary channel image and labels it as such however, amics will faithfully collect any image that has been set on the system as the primary channel image the user can set the image to be secondary electron (se) or any other image option and amics will still function and will label this as the "bse channel" navigation action keyboard mouse pan arrows click and drag in the image zoom "+" to zoon in " " to zoom out mouse wheel jump to edge "shift" + arrow key n/a d isplay options select image type select the image type be selecting the image type drop down located in the image properties area of the property window data selection data property options allow the user to select a subset of particles/grains/segments to work with (selection) or an area of the sample, instead of working with all the data material/group visualization selection it is also possible to display a subset of materials, or group in this window, to make it easier to locate and isolate areas of interest this is possible using the visualization check box located next to each material/group once one of these checkboxes is enabled, the image tab will switch to selective visualization mode with the selected material highlighted further enabling checkboxes will add these additional materials for visualization sort direction one of the most powerful features of the amics sample images tab is the ability to sort the window use sort direction to sort grains (grain layer active) or particles (particle layer selected) according to area, bse or shape use the fit line up on the docid 87wo70x af8 tdfourhr5 area to fit the grains or particles at the current zoom level to the visible window width the fit image option will adjust the image zoom to fit all the particle or grains into the visible window area show image properties the docid\ j mnqauzwrnwokescozsn shows measurement, sample, and mineral properties when when the window is active show or hide the static information by using the "g", "s", "m", and "p" buttons in the top of this area to view the image properties of the primary image right click in the screen and select result properties from the context menu view x ray points to overlay points (identified as crosses) where x ray data were collected, select the x ray points icon from the main toolbar the positions will not be visible at low magnification zoom with the scroll wheel on the mouse to reveal the x ray point positions when hovering the mouse over an x ray point location the associated spectrum will be displayed at the bottom of the screen (below) to focus or lock on an x ray point (freezing the spectrum for further interaction) click on the cross moving the mouse over the x ray display, at the bottom of the image display, will activate a cursor (line) indicating the position of k line positions (black line) pressing “l” on the keyboard will change the line to red, which will then indicate possible l line positions (below) the colors of the spectra lines and x ray points can be changed in the docid\ e2szwuewcgoxivob0zj2i window that can be accessed from the extra ribbon in the docid 87wo70x af8 tdfourhr5 this can be used to change the color of the x ray points too (below) press "ctrl" with the image highlighted to toggle the views in the x ray overlay in the upper right hand the total counts, height ratio, detected mineral, and (if matched) standard matched to is displayed (below) the views are (1) standard, (2) unknown, (3) standard, and (4) difference the colors of the lines can b image types primary image the primary image is either bse, backscatter electron image (sem) or a pseudobse, or a total peak energy map (m4) both are displayed as a greyscale image with 256 channels classified image to display a false color classified image in the data display area, use the primary/classied toggle switch from main menu ribbion this mineral map is dynamically drawn with the colors of the segments based on the color assigned to the mineral or the group that is selected switching grouping is achieved in the control window, via the drop down menu note! changes to the grouping will not only change the color and classification reported in the image tab, but will also affect the material list used for all calculation and reporting the images tab classified map can be used to display mineral maps collected from measurements collected in the docid\ v7saktxhyknzlp1uyoro3 , docid\ b bziskvktzgpym4czecf , or the docid glkkqds6phrmz y12axm the resolution of segment maps will match the bse, but all other maps will be displayed at the resolution of the mapping data collection split view split view displays the identified mineral and the bse image side by side this is helpful to quickly compare two image types for qa/qc or to understand the mineral and bse texture at the same time to activate the split image view the user can change to the sample image context menu (when on the image tab), and click on the "show split view" the split image view can be in continue view, mirror view, overview view, overlay view, or pop up view continue view divides a single image down the middle and shows the mineral (or segment) image on the left and the bse image on the right the user can drag the image the move areas of the image between the two display modes mirror view shows the same image with the left being mineral or segment maps and the right being the bse image (below) as the image is panned or zoomed the same area is always displayed in both regions overview view shows a small window in the lower right hand corner showing a mini version of the larger window but the grains in the smaller window can then be changed to show a different image from the main window overlay view will show both the split view as an overlay over the original image, using the transparency to switch between the modes toggle mineral / bse > show continue split image view the split image view can also be used to compare the segmented area with the bse (below); a good way to compare and qa/qc the segmentation parameters used to activate this mode right click and select toggle mirror type or in the ribbon select mineral / bse > show segmented split image type secondary image the secondary image is collected at the time of data collection (sem) to display the secondary image select mineral / bse from the docid 87wo70x af8 tdfourhr5 area and select show secondary channel image context menus context menus are the grab bag of any software we hate them and are working over time to eliminate the need for them we are also working to add keyboard shortcuts waring!
