matching in amics is completed by a full spectral comparison between the acquired x ray spectrum to a library of reference spectra the list of reference spectra is referred to in amics as a classification method however, classification methods includes more than just reference spectra, but can also include material groupings, spectrum tree, and grain touch up steps access to the classification methods is via the menu ribbon on the left hand panel of amics process with the classification method accessed by clicking the right most button the classification menu is composed of three separate tabs, with the default tab being the reference spectra the groupings tab will contain all the material grouping associated with a specific classification method, while the steps tab contain all spectrum tree and grain touchup steps associated with a specific classification method note! groupings are not automatically transferred from the current measurement data to the common classification method database so it is important to manually transfer the groupings from the current measurement data to the common method database before reclassification with the common database this is an example window using amics investigator to access and make changes to the classification method the same process can be achieved from amics process as well
