In the AMICS 3.3 release, we have introduced a massive change in the look and feel of the application, while maintaining the flexibility and ease of use as you remember in previous releases. 

The AMICS 3.3 release has been under development since 2001 and represents some of the biggest changes to how AMICS operates since the AMICS 3.0 release in 2020. This update will introduce several new concepts, mostly focusedond high-throughput and reproducible data collection. This AMICS release may be distributed to all existing AMICS customers.

This release was made possible by extensive testing and support provided by our close partners at 

. of Australia. Particular thanks need to be provided to Matthew Power, Gerda Gloy, Andrew Gibson-White, and Tim Murphy for testing and suggestions. The full development team of Chi Ly, Robb McLeod, and Mar Guo has put in thousands of hours and continues to amaze with their innovation and dedication.

The entire development team is excited for this release, and hope that it provides users with more utility and enjoyment. We have included in this release notes some helpful tools for selling and promoting AMICS. However, we always hope you will reach out to the AMICS team with any questions or to receive support. 

Groups are not being copied from the Common Library back to Current Results during reclassification. 

Export BSE Histogram does not work, this UI option in the Batch Reclassification menu has been removed.

Batch exporting of MDB files (32-Bit Version Only)

Cleanup Un-xray Segments causes failure during batch processing. Option removed, users should move to using Touch-up Steps. This option has been removed in Batch classification mode.

Images are not being displayed when going to Particle Properties

The small particle filter in Investigator will allow slightly smaller particles for analysis.

Segment trigger will not accept a step size of 1 pixel.

Process will crash if G-S-M-P are selected on the right-hand panel and then sorted by A-Z, then if either G-S-M-P is deselected. Avoid using the sort option.

Touch-up Step created in Particle layer (i.e. from a Particle Mapping measurement) will not work for Matrix Mapping data, only grain level Touch-up step are valid for Matrix Mapping data.

Updated icons for Investigator, Process and Tools to help distingush between applications.

Unxrayed segments are permanently removed by touch-up steps.
NOTE: Fix will not work on data sets processed by pre-3.3.3 version.

The "Manage" button in Investigator main menu Ribbon now opens the Template Manager, but the old Sample Holder Manager can still be accessed from the bottom tab.

Large images can not be exported due to Microsoft image size limitations. Added the ability to split the image into smaller pieces.

Process icon in start menu mismatch, and properties version still shows 3.3.2.

Clean up BG & Pore re-adds previously deleted particles. A patch is in progress for this. 

"Do Classification Steps" window High & Low Priority Slide bar and value box is not greyed out when "Ore type" is selected. 

Bug where AMICS Investigator would sometimes skip fields. 

Cleanup steps in mapped measurements are now persistent

Issue with large image export have been resolved. 

The white lines on image exports in large images. 

Spectrum tree and Touchup steps are not changing area % in the Current Results even when run as a step during reclassifciation.

Large image export now used multi-threading and is must fastrer. 

A "filter" tab that moves the TMQ or target mineral quantificaiton to the top level. 

Ability to save filters and filter results and reopen them as needed. 

Fiducial points export on filtered list export. Many improvements to exporting from the filters tab. 

New "Color" ribbon tab to make changeing system colors faster and more straightfoward. 

Quantification to Esprit API is not functioning as expected. Normalized methods work, but methods without normalized do not work well. 

Groups are not being copied from the Common Library back to Current Results during reclassification. The current solution is to use the Batch Reclassify option.

Changelog 3.3.2 Patch

We added a new measurement template system to streamline and standardize measurement setup. As part of this process many settings that had to apply to an entire run are not set at the measurement level for increased user control. 

A new project management system was added that conforms to user needs for ultimate flexibility in data origination. Each project can have unlimited nested sub-projects. Also, batching can be started from the project management system. 

You no longer need to open each result to apply stitching export images. Apply classification methods in their entirety, including spectrum tree steps, at the end of each measurement. Stitching and image export can also now be completed from the batch dialog and applied in series to hundreds or thousands of measurements without needing to open them. 

In one of the most commonly requested feature requests, the use can now convert a mapping results to particle results! 

Option to not save x-ray info table when converting BCF, this will speed up the process. 

Export image with scale reference in both batch and UI modes.  

We have added many data collection functional items for setting up measurements, mostly at the request of super users at Evidence and Rio Tinto. For example, Sorting of hole names when adding new samples, the ability to reorder measurements while the run is ongoing, and import a run order from a .TXT file. 

At the long-time insistence of one of our best customers (Matt Powers) spectrum tree now keeps empty bins.

Combine export results with extra calculation tables. 

We added a BCF file info button for users converting from BCF. 

Dark Mode! You asked for it and we needed to change nearly everything about how the back-end UI for AMICS works. Dark mode is now a fundamental part of AMICS. 

Users also have more control over the look and feel of AMICS UI. The user can move the main process tabs to any order or turn off nay tabs that are rarely used. The properties window can also be detached or docked to a different part of the window. 

The Ribbon can now also be fully customized. Change the ribbon or add new ribbon keyboard shortcuts. 

We added a "Finish measuring at the end of line option" to investigator. This will make sure that when a end of measurement trigger is reached the measurement will still have a regular shape. 

We have continued the long-term project to move all settings that impact the measurement into the measurement settings. You can now change settings from the "on stage" tab in Investigator 

We added  warning when the holes are going to be measured our of sequence, resulting in longer stage movements. 

You can now screen unknowns source for spectrum tree, helpful for data reduction and classification workflows in spectrum tree tab

New "View" tab as we start to rearrange the tabs into "View, Classification, and Standards tabs. Process now has an image selector is drop-down list on the Main ribbon. Also added Mineral transparency filter on the "View" ribbon for overlay mode. 

HyperMap mapping mode is now a primary mode with appropriate settings. 

Mineral on/off checklist in the current results panel with an updated color pallet selection. It also has New "summary" percentage in the current results. 

In Process it is possible to classify with unknown matching data option (to speed up classification). 

Changelog 3.3.1 New Features

To avoid sample damage the beam is defected during sample movement. This is called "Idle Scan" and is set up under "other settings" in the Investigator Options dialog box. 

Classify Mineral Standard produces better results by sending the mineral standard spectra (the reference spectra used in matching) to Esprit for quantification.

An infinite loop that would occur during hypermap collection, this is fixed with several other minor hypermap issues. Hypermap has been promoted to a measurement method ready for production use.

Bugs Smashed in 3.3.1

Junk Mineral Size Data when Converted Block=>Granular. Please be aware of this. 

The "grain panel" crashes on some 64 bit systems. Try to use the 32 bit version of Process. 

Batch exports put a white line around the fields. We know this is happening and are tracking down the cause. 

Export Image/Legend won't accept brackets as sample name.

Mineral maps do not move during field adjustment. Please use the BSE images. 

Icons on Simplified View need to be fixed. Please don't use the simplified view!
